In my soul and in my history, Lies the victories for which my family fought. Each soldier who raised a sword or fell, Helped to ensure all the freedom that I've got.
I have survived through the years, By following in the footsteps ahead of me. I've walked down many silent halls, Voiced my concerns where everyone could see.
For every soldier who carried our flag, I have paid my respect by giving only my best. Now I pray for each man and woman proudly serving, Knowing that they face the ultimate test.
Decoration Day, Memorial Day, the title doesn't matter, It's not just for cookouts and gathering to play. It's a time for remembering all that our soldiers have given, To make it possible for us to live in freedom today!
